In this, the 300th anniversary of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, internationally regarded vocalist and composer, Joanna Forbes L’Estrange, releases her choral reimagining of this ubiquitous piece, entitled: ‘A Season to Sing’.  Commissioned by the Royal School of Church Music – and co-commissioned by St Dunstan’s, Mayfield – her composition is attracting global excitement with inaugural performances from the USA to Vietnam and, most recently, the Sydney Opera House.

Joanna’s career has taken her across the world, not least directing the Swingle Singers.  She is much in demand as a choral director, conductor, arranger and composer.  We are honoured to have Jo with us in Mayfield for this concert, wielding the baton, conducting the St. Dunstan’s church choir supported by the St Ronan’s School and Mayfield Youth choirs.  The following day the piece will be recorded for Jo by our choir to be released by Signum Records.

The first half of the concert will feature a whistle stop tour of music through the ages featuring violinist George Clifford and viol performer, Marion Pilbeam, moving to more contemporary jazz, with ‘A season to Sing’ after an interval.

‘Forbes L’Estrange seems to have been born with catchy melodies coursing through her veins’ (BBC Music Magazine).  This is music for everyone, of all ages: fun, upbeat, energising.  Bring the family!
