J S Bach: Goldberg Variations BWV988

Dating from 1741, nine years before Bach’s death, the monumental Goldberg Variations demonstrate the composer’s ability to make music that expresses both triumphant joy and deep intimacy. Virtuoso harpsichordist Jack Gonzalez-Harding, fresh from his masterful direction of all six Brandenburg Concertos at the 2024 Mayfield Festival and his recent live debut on BBC Radio 3, returns to Mayfield to continue his association with the works of the greatest of baroque composers in a concert that will take place by candlelight.

Jack is a leading light. It’s easy to get used to that idea, but every time he plays, he helps us remember“.
David Gordon (keyboardist/composer)
