For the closing of the 2026 Festival, Mayfield offers a feast of colourful music. From late-Victorian England comes Hubert Parry’s Blest Pair of Sirens, a lush choral setting of words by John Milton. Haydn’s ‘Drumroll’ Symphony has been popular since it was premièred in London in 1795 – spoiler alert: it begins with a drumroll. And for the finale of the 2026 Festival Grieg’s celebrated Piano Concerto is played by Xu Peng, Overall Winner of the 2024 Tunbridge Wells International Music Competition.
